FAQs

Who are the organizer(s)?
Matt (admin of this blog), Stacey, and Jeff-one and often all of us are at every event!

When do you meet?
We get together every other Tuesday at 6PM. It goes until the last person leaves...

Where do you meet?
Spot Coffee on East Ave-near the Little Theater

Where can I park?
You can park along the street at meters-they don't charge in the city after six. You can also park for free at the Scio street garage which is right next to the shop. Other lots nearby charge, so be aware.

Do you have a seating section?
No-rather than pay the outrageous fees we take whatever tables we are able to. If no tables are free, be patient. Other patrons generally are willing to give up their chairs if you need one and ask nicely.

How does gameplay work?
Basically you come in (and don't worry about only staying until a certain time, or getting there exactly at 6-come and leave and when you want), find a table with other card players and sit down and play. There will be times when there is an 'odd' number, but as you'll soon find people are friendly and you can converse while sitting next to them or at another table. Some people play Cutthroat, any other games are welcome. We don't play for money and it is not a "tournament". Ideally if there are other tables playing, the losers move tables. If you can't move yet then switch partners. It's really up to you and your table and partner. We are all there to make new friends and get to know different people, so as much as possible try to mingle around and don't get 'stuck' with the same person all night.

Can anybody play?
Yes-people in this group range from experts to novices and everywhere in between. We are patient with new folks and even experienced players can walk away learning something new!

Do I need to bring cards?
If you want to bring a deck feel free to-otherwise organizers will have a spare deck or three on hand. I carry around 5.

Can I bring my kids?
Spot is a coffee shop, so kids should be alright there depending upon your comfort level, however the games are for the adults only.
